World Affairs Council of Albuquerque
Educates Albuquerque residents about US foreign policy choices through talks by nationally recognized experts. They bring global affairs awareness to the community and connect members with international diplomats and foreign policy specialists.
Albuquerque International Association
The Albuquerque International Association (AIA) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to enriching the lives of the community by creating a vibrant intellectual environment dealing with foreign affairs, international business, culture, and art. The AIA sponsors international lectures, global discussion dinners, and special events and offers a book club and international tour program for its members. They’ve been around for 20 years and can be contacted through Program Director Katherine Liden, katherine.liden@albqinternational.org.
Albuquerque Sister Cities Foundation
This non-profit organization fosters cultural exchange between Albuquerque and its eleven sister cities around the world. It offers various programs, such as travel opportunities, hosting international delegations, and student exchange programs. The sister cities include locations in Spain, Turkmenistan, Mexico, Germany, Taiwan, Ukraine, China, Zambia, Israel, and Japan.
City of Albuquerque
Alan Armijo, Associate Director for Senior Affairs and Public Liaison to Mayor Tim Keller, leverages his experience to connect with international communities and contribute to positive change in Albuquerque. More information about the city’s administration is available on the official website.
Globalquerque
Organizes an annual international festival in Albuquerque. The festival celebrates diverse cultures through dance, film, crafts, food, educational workshops, and live music performances.
Global Ties Albuquerque
Founded by President Roosevelt in the 1940s, this organization continues its vision of global connection. Each year, it brings over 400 international leaders and rising stars to Albuquerque. Partnering with the US Department of State, GTA fosters cultural exchange and provides opportunities for locals to meet inspiring individuals.
National Peace Corps Association
A national organization with a local chapter in Albuquerque. They bring the world home by connecting communities with former Peace Corps volunteers who share their experiences through talks and other activities.
Menaul School
An affordable private school with a focus on international education. They welcome 60-80 international students each year and even have a branch school in China. Notably, their tuition fees haven’t increased since 1980.
UNM Global Education Office
The Global Education Office (GEO) facilitates international education for University of New Mexico students, faculty, and staff. Whether it’s admitting and advising international students, teaching academic English, hosting on-campus cultural events, or sending students to study abroad and participate in national exchanges, our office is dedicated to supporting global engagement.
Global & National Security Policy Institute at UNM
A UNM institute dedicated to global and national security issues. They bring together courses, research, and programs across the university to create a comprehensive center of expertise on these critical topics.
Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce
A chamber of commerce promoting business and tourism in Albuquerque, with a particular focus on Hispanic and Native American markets. They celebrate the city’s rich cultural heritage through events and support businesses in these communities.
